Mr. Duffy Speaks at the New York State Bar Association
International Law and Practice Section Meeting in Rio de Janeiro
The International Law and Practice Section
determined to conduct its long scheduled meeting in Rio de Janeiro, despite the
recent developments on September 11th. Because some of the featured
speakers were unable to attend the meeting, Mr. Duffy and other Section officers
filled in where needed. Mr. Duffy also presented his regularly scheduled
program on Legal Ethics in Latin American Jurisdictions.

The Firm Joins those who Mourn the Casualties of 9-11
The Firm, its members, and its staff join with
all those who were shocked at the tragedy that occurred on September 11, 2001,
and mourns the loss of so many innocent people that day.

Bear Stearns Chooses the Firm to help open an Office in
Monaco
Bear Stearns has decided to open an office in
Monaco and has sought the Firm's assistance in dealing with the legal issues
involved. Bear Stearns is a major US stock brokerage and investment banking
firm. It is a member of the New York Stock Exchange and most other major
exchanges around the world.

Mr. Duffy attends Lex Mundi Annual Meeting in Chicago
James Duffy represented the Firm at the Lex Mundi
Annual Meeting held in Chicago from August 2nd through the 5th. This was the
best attended Lex Mundi meeting, and there were many excellent opportunities for
networking and making new acquaintances within the Lex Mundi community.

Mr. Duffy Presides at the American Club
July Fourth Celebrations in the Principality of Monaco
Mr. Duffy, as President of the American Club of
the Riviera, presided over the Club's July Fourth Dinner Dance celebrations of
the American Fourth of July that were held at the Salon Bellevue of the Cafe de
Paris in Monte-Carlo, Monaco. A number of senior officers of the United
States Navy attended, as did a number of local dignitaries and political
figures, including Prince Albert of Monaco who came for the cocktail portion of
the evening.

Mr. Duffy attends joint NYSBA-Barra Mexicana meeting in
Ixtapa, Mexico
The Executive Committee of the International Law
and Practice Section of the New York State Bar Association had a joint meeting
with the Executive Board of the Barra Mexicana in Ixtapa, Mexico, from May 17th
through May 20th. James Duffy attended in his capacity as Executive Vice Chair
of the Section. The meeting explored how the two bar organizations might be able
to work more closely together in the future.

Mr. Duffy Represents the Firm at the Lex Mundi London
Conference
James Duffy represented the Firm at the European
Regional Conference of Lex Mundi that was held in London from May 11th through
the 13th. About 250 Lex Mundi members attended the conference, and it was an
outstanding networking opportunity as well as an opportunity to share views and
experiences with Lex Mundi members from around the world.

Peabody & Arnold Refer a New Matter for an Existing Firm
Client
Old clients of the Firm, have sought the advice
of Peabody & Arnold regarding their commercial real property holdings in
Massachusetts. P&A realized the implications of the clients' Monaco
contacts, and have asked the Firm to assist with the creation of various wills
and trusts the clients wish to form in Massachusetts and also in Monaco under
Law 214 that permits the creation of a trust in Monaco under some
circumstances.

MedSave becomes a new international insurance client
The firm will be starting to do limited general
counsel work for MedSave, an Israeli owned insurance service firm, based in
Garden City, with a view towards expanding the scope of the representation to
cover most of MedSave's legal needs. In addition to the United States, MedSave
has operations in Madrid, London, Bahrain, and elsewhere.

All Nations Forwarding Has Cannes Film Festival Problems
All Nations Forwarding Co., Inc., has retained
the Firm by to assist it resolve problems it has with restraining notices that
have been served on the handlers of all goods All Nations is trying to ship to
the Cannes Film Festival on behalf of its film industry clients. The
restraining notices arose out of a default judgment issued against All Nations
by the Commercial Court of Paris.

James P. Duffy, III, Re-elected to the Board
of Governors of the British American
Benevolent Association, Monte-Carlo, Monaco
At the Annual Meeting of the British American
Benevolent Association, a philanthropic organization based in Monte-Carlo,
Monaco, to aid indigent Americans and British on the Cote d'Azur, James P.
Duffy, III, was re-elected to its Board of Governors. Mr. Duffy was
also elected to the Finance Committee of the Board and appointed a legal advisor
to the Association. The Association provides grants to the various
British and American benevolent aid associations on the Cote d'Azur.

American Benevolent Aid Association, Nice, France
At the Annual Meeting of the American Benevolent
Aid Association, a philanthropic organization based in Nice, France, to aid
indigent Americans on the Cote d'Azur, James P. Duffy, III, was re-elected
President. The Association provides support either in form of grants
or loans to assist indigent Americans with housing costs, repatriation to the
United States, or other emergency needs that can not be met from other
sources.

James P. Duffy, III, was elected Executive Vice
Chair of the International Law and Practice Section at the Annual Meeting of the
New York State Bar Association. Normally, this means he will become
Chair of the Section in 2003.

James P. Duffy, III, Re-elected
President of The American Club of the Riviera
James P. Duffy, III, along with the entire slate
of officers and governors proposed by the nominating committee was unanimously
re-elected president of The
American Club of the Riviera at a luncheon meeting held at the Chateau des
Ollieiers in Nice. Among the members and guests present were US
Consul Martha Melzow from the Consulate in Marseilles, France, and her husband
and the Deputy Mayor of Nice.
